Bandelierskop,
exclusively, holds
both the traversing and hunting rights for Mpofu
Game Ranch (Mpofu), which
it utilises as its base camp. Mpofu
“meaning Eland ”, was established by the Freemantle family in 1969.
Since inception it has been successfully catering to both the local
and international hunting fraternities, the photographic and birding
societies, and those wildlife lovers wishing to escape the stress of
urban life. It is situated 250 miles from Johannesburg in the
Limpopo (Northern Province) between Polokwane (Pietersburg) and Louis Trichardt. The ranch
falls into the Soutpansberg Magisterial District and is not a malaria area. The GPS co-ordinates are 023 23.236 ' S
029.043.598' E Altitude 2732 feet. As Mpofu
has always had a very good relationship with the Department of
Nature Conservation, it has an exemption permit allowing for hunting
throughout the year.
Mpofu is a fully
game fenced area of 700 ha (in excess of 2000 acres) and offers a wide variety of antelope species including Eland,
Gemsbok (Oryx), Blue Wildebeest, Blesbuck, Kudu, Red Hartebeest, Impala, Duiker
and Steenbok. We also have Zebra, Warthog, a large Ostrich
population as well as an abundance of bird life. Predators are limited to Jackal and Caracal. This means
the environment is ideal for introducing young family members to
nature, as a lot of time can be spent on foot amongst the game.

The camp consists of
four chalets, one with bathroom en suite (shower). All facilities are
available exclusively for the use of the client. There are two braai (barbecue)
areas, one for warmer nights and a reed lapa for the cooler nights.
For the really cold nights there is a large lounge and dining room with
a fireplace and bar. A fully equipped 120 yard shooting range with
covered bench is available for the testing and sighting of firearms.
